HFH is an
international, non-profit, nondenominational Christian Housing
ministry that was founded in 1976 by Linda and Millard Fuller in
Americus, Georgia. The mission of Habitat is to build affordable
simple decent housing for those in need, in partnership with
community volunteers, area churches and businesses.
The Calcasieu Habitat was founded in 1992 and has completed close to
50 houses. We currently have six houses under construction in the
Lake Charles/ Sulphur Area. There are a number of locations in Lake
Charles, DeQuincy, and Cameron Louisiana. Habitat is an organization
of mostly volunteers and operates on donations of materials and
funds to accomplish the goal. Everyone is welcome to help.
Following Hurricane Rita the need for houses is great and the local
Habitat has increased their building capacity greatly. Volunteers
are needed to help six days a week.
